General Questions

What is Moto Club Hub?

Moto Club Hub is a mobile application that helps motorcycle riders connect, organise group meet ups and discover local motorcycle events. Our mission is to turn solo rides into social ones by connecting motorcyclists in your area.

Is Moto Club Hub free?

Yes! Moto Club Hub is completely free to use to see what meet ups are planned or to create public meet ups. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases or hidden fees for people who just want to see what is being planned.

There will be paid options in the future, see below.

What platforms is the app available on?

Moto Club Hub is available on both iOS and Android devices. Download it from the App Store or Google Play - the links are on the homepage.

Is there a web version of the app?

No. Moto Club Hub is currently only available as a mobile app for iOS and Android.

Can I use the app offline?

You can view previously loaded meet ups offline, but you need an internet connection to create meet ups, mark interest or see new content.

Getting Started

Do I have to create an account?

No. You can view all meet ups without ever creating an account. You get to see all public meet ups. You are essentially in read only mode but otherwise you have the same options as an authenticated user. What you can’t do is interact (bookmark, mark as interested etc).

How do I create an account?

Download the app and sign up using your email address, Google ID or Apple ID.

How do I verify my account?

Account verification is coming soon. Verification will be required when you want to set up a club, ensuring that the people running the club in real life are the same people managing it in the app. You will need to be a Supporter to become verified. Note that cyber squatting (claiming names you do not legitimately represent) is not allowed.

What does being verified mean?

A verified badge shows other users that you have confirmed your identity as the real person or organisation. It helps build trust when joining or organising meet ups.

Can I change my profile picture?

Yes. Go to your Profile and tap on your current profile picture to upload a new one.

Meet Ups

What types of meet ups can I organise?

Any type! Casual rides, long distance tours, track days, cafe meet ups, charity events and more.

How do I create my first meet up?

  1. Tap the “Meet Ups” button in the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Tap the “+” floating action button.
  3. Enter meet up details (name, description, date, time, meeting point etc).
  4. Click “Save”.

How do I join a meet up?

Browse available meet ups in your area, tap on one that interests you, and click “Interested”. The organiser will see your interest.

Can I edit a meet up after creating it?

Yes. Open the meet up you created and tap the edit icon. You can change the details, date, time or location.

How will people know a meet up has been updated?

Anyone who has marked it as interested, bookmarked it or is an organiser should receive a notification on their phone.

How do I cancel or leave a meet up I have joined?

Open the meet up and tap “Interested” again to remove your interest or do the same with bookmark. If you created the meet up, you can delete it from the edit screen.

What about meet ups I create?

You have a delete option and would need to delete them yourself. All meet ups older than 30 days get automatically deleted.

How do I contact the organiser of a meet up?

Currently there is no in-app messaging. You can see the organiser’s profile but would need to connect with them through external means.

What happens if a meet up is cancelled?

If the organiser cancels or deletes the meet up, it will disappear from your list and a notification will be sent to everyone who marked interest or bookmarked it.

Is there a maximum number of attendees for a meet up?

No. There is no limit on how many people can mark interest in or bookmark a meet up.

How do I share a meet up with friends outside the app?

You can share a meet up by tapping the share icon on the meet up details screen. This will generate a link that you can send via messaging apps or social media.

Can I create a club or group?

Not yet, but this is a coming feature.

Pricing

Is Moto Club Hub free?

Yes. You can create and attend public meet ups for free and this will always remain the case. There is no charge to use the core features of the app.

Is there a paid option?

Yes. A Supporter option is being introduced shortly. Full pricing details will be clearly shown on the main website and within the mobile application before you choose to subscribe. Pricing varies by region so check in the application for your actual price.

What does being a Supporter give me?

Being a Supporter allows you to change your user handle, within reasonable limits. Apart from this, all features and functionality are exactly the same as the free version. There are no hidden restrictions on free users.

Why are you introducing the Supporter option?

Any money received, after app store fees and tax, will help cover the ongoing costs of developing, hosting and maintaining the mobile application. This support helps keep Moto Club Hub running and improving for everyone.

Will there be more paid options?

Yes. I will be introducing a Clubs feature and this will have a cost. I will put the cost information on the main page when the feature is released to beta testers. Clubs will be able to have private meet ups (for example). At least one founding member will need to be a current Supporter and be verified.

Privacy & Safety

Do you sell, share or otherwise do anything with my data?

No. Your login information is only used for just that. Both Apple and Google have strict privacy controls. The purpose of this application is to get people out motorcycling with other people not to harvest and sell data. So, any user information is used for logging you in, knowing who creates meet ups etc. If you don’t want to have any data stored you can delete your account (click on your Profile and at the bottom there is a Delete Account button) and everything will be removed fully within 30 days.

Why do you ask for my location?

Your location is used to centre the map when you open the application. So, if you are in Australia, you should see that part of the world and if you are in Germany you should see Europe.

Your location is also used when you create or edit a meet up to centre the mini map. Most people create meet ups close to where they are.

This feature was requested by users.

If I don’t give my permission, what happens?

Nothing. The application still works and if I remember the map centres on Paris, France or Dublin, Ireland. You just have to move the map to where you want.

How do you ensure rider safety?

We encourage riders to:

  • Meet in public places
  • Ride in groups
  • Follow local traffic laws
  • Report any concerning behaviour to relevant authorities

Can I block or report users?

Not yet. This will be available in the Friends feature when it is released.

Can I flag a meet up as inappropriate?

Yes. You must be signed in! There is a Flag option on meet ups and flagged meet ups are reviewed within 24 hours. I am in the GMT timezone so I don’t always get to them instantly.

Inappropriate content is not allowed and will be removed.

Equally people who flag meet ups facetiously will also be removed.

Languages

First, my sincere apologies if you are upset by how your language has been translated. Most translations were created using Google Translate and if anything is incorrect or awkward, I am sorry. If you reach out to me I will fix it.

How do I change my language setting?

Once you are logged in, click on your Profile photo in the top right of the screen, then select Settings. In the Local Device section, you will see Language Settings. Your choice will be remembered. You can also choose to use the system default for your phone, meaning the language your device is set to, if it is available in the app it will be used, otherwise it will default to English.

Why do you have the languages that are in the list?

Quite simply, because someone asked for them.

Technical Support

The app isn’t working properly. What should I do?

  1. Make sure you have the latest version
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Restart the app

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile, scroll down and there is a Delete Account button. Note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the login screen, tap “Forgot Password” and follow the instructions sent to your email.
